Reflection:
This project task took for 7 weeks and we had plenty of tutorial with each of our of lectures. Although my progression was a bit slow in the beginning, but I slowly began to understand what I need to do and don't. With the given sample of our senior's work, we were taught the correct method of working drawing we should be doing. My autocad software(along with my 3Dmax software) received a error message and I can't use it at all. I end up doing my work at the campus computer lab most of the time I could. It was a difficult period for me. However, I was able to finish my work on time and submit it in one piece.

Project 2: Individual Reflection

For this project assignment, we have to produce a report and layout drawings based on our site visit we went, which is the 3K MPSJ at Subang Jaya. In a group of 4, we had divided ourselves in 2 part, two people doing the report while the other two do the layout drawing.

I was in charged of the report together with Goh Pei San, while Chia Kha Wen and Thian Bing Xun did the layout drawing. For the report, Pei San and I divide our workload into parts, as I take the introduction, enviroment of the site, natural physical feature, vegetation, sensory and building services. Both of us still help each other when we had difficulties on our part. By keeping in track with our other group members, we managed to finish everything and hand our submission in one piece. To my group members, thank you for your hard work.

We need to include UBBL(Uniform Building By-Laws 1984) Acts into the report as well. I realize how important it is to understand the laws before designing a building. It is for the safely of the people and the building as well. There are some laws acts that I don't quite understand fully yet, so I will need to ask my lecturers about it in the future.

Observation Journals - Task 5

For this task,we were told to sketch out 3 different type of joints on our study trip to Singapore. The types of joints are Rivet, Welded and, Nut and bolts. Since I wasn't able to attend the study trip due to personal issues, we were told that those who didn't go to the trip will need to sketch out 2 objects of each joints.

These are my sketches:

Reflection:
I had a hard time on understand what rivet joints are, It took me awhile to understand it and I also counldn't find it easily like the other joints. The other joints are easier to find since it can be found at anywhere around us. I'm not used to rivet joints before which is why I was having difficulting to identified one. It had show me how lack I was in types of joints around me. I would need to taking note of the joints properly now.

This task is a group of 4 people project and we need to draw our chosen furniture in front view, elevation, section, detail drawings and assembly drawing, together with specification and title block. After the submission, we were told to give remarks on other group drawing and vice versa. After the comments made from our coursemates, we have to re-draw it into our journals. The drawing below is my revision remarks drawing:

Reflection:
I quite suprised how many small and careless mistake me and my group had made in our drawing. I could have said the same for other groups as well.. By doing these type of observation on what is wrong on this drawing itself,  really helps us a lot. It actually made me realize on the mistake that we do and makes us understand it more in a proper way. I will hope that I won't be making th same mistake in the nearest future.

Observation Journal - Task 3

This week, our task was to go for a site visit and explore different type of furniture and sketch it out in our journal. We need 3 furniture, which are chair, table and cabinet. We were told that all of the chosen furniture need to be loose materials, which mean all my chosen furniture need to all different materials. For my site visit, I went to IKEA Damansara.

These are my sketches

Reflection:
I realize there is so much type of materials and finishes I didn't know before after a trip to the site visit. It was a great experience in exploring and gaining new knowledge about it. I had fun and I enjoy seeing different types of design and the materials they used.

Observation Journal - Task 2

On week 2, we were taught to write a specification for our furniture in the sketches we do. Specification is detailed description of the design and materials been used for that particular furniture. For example, the measurement, materials, for which part and lastly its finishing/furnishing used. This is to make it easier for other people, such as the manufacture, to understand.

For the weekly task, we were given 3 images and we will need to sketch it out, minimum of 2 sketches and 2 specification per image given. Here are my sketches;

Reflection:
I had difficulties on writing the specification at first try. It was new to me and I become so confused. However, as I practice and study more about it, I've started to get a hang of it in the end. However, there is still much for me to learn and I will try my best to polish up my specification writing skills in the nearest future.

Observation Journal - Drafting Table

On the first week of sem 3, we were told that for semester 3 Detailing and Working Drawing class will need a journal to do our daily task that will be given to us every week, For this week, we were given a task to draw a drafting table. However, since the lecturers have not teach us how to draw it properly yet, this first task is a test to see how we, students, are able understand the basic for this class fully or not. Since the task is drafting table, we have a tons of it in our classroom studio, here are some photo I took;

My sketches for this task:

This is my front cover I drew for the journal:

Reflection:
In this class, we are not required to use any ruler for our drawing. We are only allow to use artline pens such as 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6 tips. It was very hard to keep a steady line while drawing and I keep on having crooked lines a lot of times. I'm hoping in the nearest future, I will be able to improve my drawing in this class in terms of lineweight and the quality of my straight line.
